Some friendships are forged in fire, others bloom in the quiet moments after the storm.
Jake isn’t sure when life started slipping through his fingers—maybe when school nearly crushed him, or when his best friend Brooke began pulling away behind a mask of cheer. There was a loneliness she carried silently, and he couldn’t bring himself to ask about it. As the two of them stumble through grief, family chaos, and the wild mess of growing up, they find themselves leaning on each other in ways neither expected. Finding a Best Friend is a story about scars that don’t always show, friendships that run deeper than love, and the quiet courage it takes to let someone see you—really see you—for who you are.
My debut novel took me several years of writing, rewriting, learning, struggling, and not quitting. I'm quite pleased with the result, especially since I was the target audience. Now, I share it and hope someone else enjoys the message in it.
"This was a beautiful book and a wonderful look at friendship and how it helps us get through life. This was truly a heart warming read and it is a great reminder of how we should treasure our friends and lean on them through the chaos of our lives. The characters were so well developed and I felt like I really got to know them personally. This is an easy to follow plot so it makes for a perfect beach read in summer or work break book! "

"Finding a Best Friend is a beautifully written, emotionally resonant story about the quiet strength of connection and the courage it takes to be vulnerable. Jake and Brooke’s friendship is raw, real, and deeply moving as they navigate the pressures of growing up, the weight of grief, and the silence between words that often hides the most pain."
